Bad hardware If you continue to experience issues after following the above steps it is likely that hardware within the computer is bad. Get to the desktop, open Windows Explorer and under the C: drive you will find all the folders you created with the files inside.Now.....get some clean floppy disks and open each If the files were from say, a specific genealogy program, you would need a copy of that program on your computer to read the files. Once you retrieve the data, I would highly suggest storing in on your hard drive as well as making a backup copy on CD or DVD. This should boot up in to DOS as all the files the PC needs will be on it. If you have any floppy discs that are still functional, I would suggest getting the data off them as soon as possible.
