This may work since the bookmark backup process bypasses certain invalid places.sqlite entries that may exist.  and has the advantage of preserving your browsing history. The rest of the article seems OK. I can't help thinking though that maybe if we do follow the trend of having increasing numbers of short articles maybe it is best to use templates more often. My thoughts are that the file in use is mistaken by Firefox to be in use, but instead the file was left as modified by an administrator user and cannot be It will not fix the corruption. I approved those changes and then made a few tweaks that need review. Wait until Firefox has completely quit.
It is also possible that Firefox was not closed properly, as might happen when your computer loses power with Firefox running, which can cause a corrupt places.sqlite file. I don't have this problem on Linux or Mac. If this file is damaged, various problems with bookmarks or other Firefox functions can occur (see Locked or damaged places.sqlite for details). If deleting a large quantity of bookmarks is very slow or causes a hang, see Firefox hangs.
On a few occassions when Firefox is closed and re-opened as non administrator elevated the error is encountered. Help!
